Day 272 - Hermanus, South Africa - 5th May, 2005

After spending a morning hanging around the bar, playing pool with boys and catching up with blogs and e-mail, we headed off to Hermanus. This a coastal village about 1 and half hours east of Cape Town. The drive was spectacular as we went over mountains and across terrain we had not encountered before. We drove through the small sea side town and headed out to the sandy beaches at the other end.

The beach was very wide and sandy. We found all kinds of shell fish and to the sides of the beach, where the rocks were, we found pools of sea anenome. It was a classic kids time on a great beach. It was only about 18 deg C and the wind was quite fresh so by the time we got back in the car we were all feeling quite chilly.

We headed back into town and found some coffee and treats to keep us going for the journey home. Just after we started back Sammy began to feel sick, entually throwing up into a plastic bag and Julian complained of stomach ache. This was the beginning of a 24 hour period of them both being very sick with food poisoning. That night Julian was up nearly all night on the toilet and the next day they were both having a very bad time.

We had only the day before mentioned to each other how Julian particularly had been 100% well during our whole trip.
