Day 283 - Returning to Nairobi - The Trip Home
The trip home was fun. We had the same driver a van.
After we had been on the road for a while, we noticed that the van was going quite slowly. Certainly far more slowly than we had experienced on our way out. The driver was somewhat agitated and I could see something was wrong. There were no obvious noises from the engine and the tyres all seemed good. Eventually we pulled over by the side of the road to investigate.
It seems that the automatic speed limiter was malfunctioning. Designed to keep the van at pre-determined speed, it had decided to implement a 50% reduction for no reason at all. We couldn't disconnect it, so we had to continue, at what now felt like a snail's pace. A pace that was further hindered when we needed to stop at a police check point. And at great risk to our further progress, I snuck a secret pic of the policeman's weapon.
In order to fix the problem, we called into a repair show, where we found a Renault 4 car in a rather poor state of repair. This was the first car I had bought for myself years ago when I was a lad.
And also an Escort Estate.
After some fiddling about, the speed restrictor was removed and we set off for home.
