Day 204 - New Delhi, India - 26th February, 2005

There are no other flights with Cathay Pacific (part of the One World Alliance ticketing group) from Hong Kong to New Delhi apart from the one that arrives at 2:10 am. As far as I can see, due to it's lack of night time flying restrictions, international airlines programme all their flights to leave or arrive at some ghastly time in the early hours, in order to suit the landing time slots in places like London, Tokyo and the like.

After a long wait at passport control (the impression given was that we were not expected and that therefore most of the staff had been sent home) we got through to the baggage hall. I had only just said to Julie in Bangkok that we had survived well without loosing a bag or a child (apart from Julian in Canada for an hour or so) on our trip so far then we finally loose one in New Delhi. One of our main bags was missing. It was one of the boys bags. We had been mentally preparing for this eventuality and Julie was also packing a bit of everyone's clothes in everyone else's bags. But this process led us to never know where anything was so we had reverted to one bag per person again. Julian had lost all his clothes and books. I felt sure it would turn up eventually, after all Cathay Pacific has a reputation to keep. So we filled in all the forms (lots of rubber stamping on these by different desks at different ends of the airport) and we finally left the customs hall at around 3:45 am. Just imagine what the boys were like at that time of day. Sammy had to be pushed out on a trolley.

We were met by Paul, my Mum's husband and I must say it was great to see a familiar and smiling face again. He took us out to meet our driver (my sister's husband Rob's driver) who piled all the gear into the back of a Toyota Quallis (people mover type of thing) and drove us home. Just give us a bed, please.

We got back to the house and my Mum was up waiting for us. Another nice surprise, as she had already arrived in India. We found the bedroom complete with 4 beds and crashed.
